Step 1: Determine how much you can spend on a new home. Talk to your financial advisor and obtain a pre-approval letter. Make sure to consider long-term energy-efficiency savings and federal, state and local tax incentives when performing calculations.
Step 2: Decide where you'd like to live and when you want to move (custom homes can take between 6 months to a year, depending on the design process).
Step 3: What do you want? Would you prefer a custom eco-friendly design/build or do you wish to move-in quickly into a beautiful finished product?
Step 4: Call us. We can work with you no matter how big or small the budget may be.
In the residential construction business, two types of homes are built - custom and spec homes.
The advantage of the spec home is that it's ready to move-in when you are ready to move in. You see a finished product and it is yours if you want to buy it. The disadvantage is that you cannot customize it to your specific needs and wishes.
Building a custom home allows you to be as creative and sustainable as possible. You can utilize inexpensive reclaimed materials, maximize passive solar design, and lay out a home that is perfect for you, your family, your work, your art, your passions and your needs. The disadvantage, of course, is the time it takes to design and build.
At SEED, we build spec homes, work with customers on completely custom projects, and can also work in-between by incorporating custom features and materials into an existing model.
With all the variables associated with installing a photovoltaic (PV or solar panel) system on your property, determining the financial benefits of panels can be difficult. We call the study of these financial benefits solarnomics.
